It’s officially Coachella season, and Weekend One is in the books. Miley Cyrus is onto something great… or as she puts it, Something Beautiful. That's the name of her upcoming album, set to release on May 30. Cyrus has described the record as “hypnotizing and glamorous.” “It’s a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music,” she said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

Miley is no stranger to campiness and glamour. She entered the pop culture lexicon as Hannah Montana, a pop star in the namesake Disney Channel show who lived a double life. In order to dirty up her all-American, good-girl image, she took a turn toward the wild side, as many child stars do. This led to her Bangerz era, a string of attention seeking antics that often appropriated hip-hop and Black American culture. There was the infamous MTV VMA performance where she twerked on Robin Thicke, the full-frontal nudity in the “Wrecking Ball” video, and much, much more — all coinciding with the release of Bangerz, her fourth studio album.
