Taylor Swift has officially reclaimed her masters. Six years after calling Scooter Braun’s acquisition of her first six albums the “worst case scenario,” she’s now bought back the rights to her full Big Machine-era catalog from Shamrock Capital for an undisclosed nine-figure sum. So what does this mean for the remaining Taylor’s Version re-recordings? The re-cut of her 2006 debut is finished—but Reputation (TV), she says, doesn’t really exist.

Miley Cyrus deserves an album as iconic and captivating as she is. Something Beautiful, her latest LP, is a partial victory in achieving what has always seemed jsut out of reach, especially given her generational vocal talent and cultural omnipresence.
It’s clear Cyrus thought she deserved it too. Something Beautiful boasts a long list of collaborators, including Model/Actriz’s Cole Haden, Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard, and Alvvays’ Molly Rankin and Alec O’Hanley—plus many, many more. This past weekend she debuted an expensive-looking film to accompany the album, perhaps taking a cue from a recent A-list collaborator known for marrying music and cinema. But her stated inspiration was Pink Floyd’s The Wall, but with “a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.”
