Okay, we promise this is the last time we write about one of the BLACKPINK girls until the band gets back together. Probably.
We’ve said before that BLACKPINK often feels like less than the sum of its parts — a rare case where the group dynamic dilutes rather than amplifies the individual. And while we’ve been critical of the solo work too, there’s always been a quiet hope that at least one of them might land on something real. Lisa, the most visible of the four, has come close. Her debut didn’t impress, but she’s made some compelling moves with the help of others: Rosalía on “New Woman,” RAYE and Doja Cat on “Born Again.” There’s a pattern there — she tends to rise to the level of her collaborators. When the company is right, she meets the moment.
“Priceless,” her latest single, isn’t one of those moments.
