April 5th 1994: Kurt Cobain committed suicide by shooting himself in the head at his home in Seattle. Cobain, best known as the frontman for the grunge band Nirvana, remains one of the most influential musicians in rock. Nirvanaβs second album Nevermind (1991) is a landmark in the history of popular music - itβs opening track Smells Like Teen Spirit is considered to be one of the greatest songs of all time.
