Sunday evening, the Recording Academy held one of the most star-studded performances in Grammy history. A celebration of hip hop’s history, the show marked the 50th anniversary of the genre’s creation, when DJ Kool Herc used two turntables to create the very first breakbeat at a party in the West Bronx. In a performance that included legendary rap luminaries such as LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Run-DMC, Rakim, and Method Man, one artist was not like the others: GloRilla.
