Bonnie Raitt shocked the music world Sunday night when she took home the Grammy award for Song of the Year, beating out pop juggernauts Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Adele, Harry Styles, and Kendrick Lamar.

Sunday evening, the Recording Academy held one of the most star-studded performances in Grammy history. A celebration of hip hop’s history, the show marked the 50th anniversary of the genre’s creation, when DJ Kool Herc used two turntables to create the very first breakbeat at a party in the West Bronx. In a performance that included legendary rap luminaries such as LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Run-DMC, Rakim, and Method Man, one artist was not like the others: GloRilla.
