🎵 Bruno Mars & Sexyy Red Get Explicit
Plus, FKA Twigs dances into new territory. Deafheaven are ferocious again.
Last night, the Grammy Awards—our favorite night of the year—raised millions for victims of the L.A. fires while delivering plenty of memorable moments. Kanye West and his wife, Bianca—sans clothing—made a fleeting red carpet appearance before leaving just as quickly, while Jaden Smith showed up with a house on his head. The Weeknd ended his four-year Grammy boycott with a dramatic return to the stage, signaling a truce with the Recording Academy. Chappell Roan claimed Best New Artist (in a stacked field!) and took the opportunity to call for healthcare for developing artists. Taylor Swift suffered a rare loss, going 0 for 6 in her categories. After 99 nominations, Beyoncé finally snagged her long-overdue Album of the Year win for Cowboy Carter (take that, CMAs). And Kendrick Lamar swept all five categories “Not Like Us” was nominated for, including Record and Song of the Year, setting the perfect stage for his Super Bowl halftime show next Sunday.

BIGGEST Songs of the Week 📈

Bruno Mars is in his collaboration era. Though he hasn’t dropped a solo album since 2016, he’s been churning out hits alongside other artists. Back in October, we dubbed him the king of collabs following the release of his earworm of a song with BLACKPINK’s Rosé, “APT.” The track was Spotify’s most streamed song for three weeks straight. Before that, he and Lady Gaga released the country-rock ballad “Die with a Smile,” which became the first song to reach a billion streams on Spotify in under 100 days.
